About

1 Stop Stores History

Jim Brown started the 1 Stop Stores all the way back in 1990, when Jim went to work for Colonel Larry Reed at the Sabula Market.  Colonel Larry Reed actually had enough faith in Jim to hand him the keys and let him run the store, based on Jim's knowledge of the convenience store business, as his Dad and God-Father ran a gas station at exit 120, Clearfield for many years and Jim grew up in that business.

Jim thrived at the Sabula store and in 1991 started working at GIO's at the I-80 Woodland Exit for Dave Panasiti.  Jim learned more about the industry in his time at GIO's and in 1992 Colonel Reed asked him if he would like to buy Sabula.  He did in April of 1992.

In October, 1992, Mr. Bud Duckett asked Jim if he would be interested in building a store in Grampian and leasing it from him. Within a very short-time Jim now owned two stores.

Things then went along for a few years, when Jim got a call from Mike Shugarts, owner of the infamous HILLTOP in Brookville. Jim subsequently purchased Hilltop in July 1996.

Jim expanded once again in 2003, adding Sykesville that Christmas.

He then added Reynoldsville, after acquiring from Sheetz, in July of 2007.

Finally, and most recently Jim purchased the Treasure Lake Store from Chuck Bly in September of 2013.

Jim has 4 children and is happy to be a part of all of the communities where he has his stores.  He values his employees and is proud to provide many jobs to the local and regional business economy.

The future is bright for Jim, his stores, his customers and his employees.

1 Stop Stores are proud to be your 1st Stop, Last Stop, 1 Stop!!!
